The Fayetteville Arsenal Camp #168 was organized in 1987 and is the local arm of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The Arsenal Camp meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Cumberland County Wildlife Club on Mellwood Dr. in Fayetteville. The Arsenal Camp maintains an active schedule throughout the year, both defending and celebrating our Confederate heritage.
The Arsenal Camp takes its name from the Fayetteville Arsenal, an important military installation of the 19th century which was located in the Haymount area of Fayetteville. The Arsenal supported the Confederate Army with ammunition, small arms, and the Fayetteville Rifle. The Arsenal was destroyed by Union Soldiers in March of 1865 and is now the site of the Museum of the Cape Fear.
